Samsung’s portable smartphones have been in the works for years but now it looks like we are finally going to get a sneak peak of the technology within the next couple of months. DJ Koh, CEO of the company's mobile division, recently said in an interview that the Galaxy F or X might be revealed have the Samsung conference which is slated to take place in San Francisco on November, 2018. Kho admitted that it is a complicated device to build and still not complete however he said that the development is in the final stages. DJ Koh spoke to CNBC about how the phone is said to work, he said “you can use most the uses on foldable status. But when you need to browse or see something, then you may need to unfold it.”.

But even unfolded. What kind of benefit does that give compared to the tablet? If the unfolded experience is the same as the tablet why would they buy it?

Kho replied to CNBC, “So, every device, every feature, every innovation should have a meaningful message to the customer. So, when the end customer uses it, ’wow’ this is the reason Samsung made it”. Basically, he’s saying he doesn’t just want this device to function like any other tablet when unfolded but want to introduce applications and capabilities that will differentiate from other smartphones and users will be able to do most of the tasks when tablet is in the folded state but they will have to unfold it for browsing or seeing something else. They understand that if the device just functions like others tablet on the market when it’s unfolded users will not develop a strong reason to purchase it. That’s why Samsung wants to embed functionalities that will make customers realize that the bomb factor lets them do things were unimaginable on other devices. DJ also said that they have done the consumer surveys and found out that there’s actually a market for foldable devices and added that it’s time for Samsung deliver. So, let me know your thoughts on this in the comments below.
